A Meaningful Health Initiative During Ramadan: Students Support Public Health
First and Emergency Aid Program students of Süleyman Demirel University Atayalvaç Vocational School of Health Services carried out a meaningful social responsibility initiative during the month of Ramadan. As part of the Advanced Life Support Practices course, conducted under the guidance of Mustafa KUTLU, an Emergency Medical Technician at the Yalvaç District Health Directorate who also serves as an adjunct lecturer at Atayalvaç SHMYO, students are performing health measurements for citizens at Yalvaç’s Anlatan Square in a program that began on 9 March and will continue until 13 March.
During the event, citizens’ blood sugar, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and body temperature are measured. The measurements are attracting great interest, especially among fasting citizens who may experience fatigue, dizziness or feel unwell during the day.
In the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan, the strong interest shown by elderly citizens in particular stood out. Many citizens who wanted to have their health checked expressed their satisfaction with the measurements performed by the students.
Yalvaç Mayor Mr. Mustafa KODAL also visited the event, chatted with the students and supported the initiative by having his own health measurements taken. The event, which aims to contribute to public health, was organized under the coordination of Atayalvaç SHMYO Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Zehra ÜSTÜN and Mustafa KUTLU. Thanks were extended to Yalvaç District Governor Mr. Bekir ABACI in particular, as well as to the Yalvaç District Governorship and Yalvaç Municipality, for their support in making the event possible.
