On-Site Evaluation Visit from the Rectorate to Atayalvaç SHMYO and First and Emergency Aid Practice Course Protocol
Süleyman Demirel University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan visited Atayalvaç Vocational School of Health Services and held an on-site evaluation meeting. During the visit, a cooperation protocol was signed with Yalvaç Municipality that will provide the School with a “First and Emergency Aid Practice Course.”
A delegation consisting of Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan, the Secretary General, heads of departments and the Director of the Private Office visited Atayalvaç SHMYO on Thursday, 24 September 2026. At the meeting, attended by all academic staff of the School and lasting about two hours, School Director Assist. Prof. Dr. Zehra Üstün gave a presentation covering the current state of the School, its student and staff structure, its academic performance in 2026, and its needs and proposed solutions regarding practical training.
The protocol, the main item on the visit’s agenda, was signed by Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan and Yalvaç Mayor Mustafa Kodal. Under the protocol, a First and Emergency Aid Practice Course will be built on the Kılıçarslan Campus, where the School is located. Construction and materials for the course will be provided free of charge by Yalvaç Municipality under Municipal Law No. 5393, while project and operational support will be provided by Süleyman Demirel University.
The course will include stations for six real-case scenarios: traffic accidents, ambulance and patient transfer, confined-space and collapsed-structure response, patient transport over difficult terrain, disaster scenarios, and falls from height. This will allow students of the First and Emergency Aid program, the School’s largest program, to reinforce the skills they practice on manikins in the classroom under real field conditions. In the future, the course is also intended to be opened to the district for drills, in-service training and certificate programs.
The meeting also included evaluations of academic and administrative staffing, and the School’s program structure and possible new programs were discussed in line with YÖK’s current regulations. The Rectorate delegation offered guidance on increasing applications to the TÜBİTAK 2209 University Students Research Projects program, organizing events in coordination with the Science Communication Office, launching social responsibility projects and establishing student clubs within the School. Requests regarding the School’s administrative and physical needs were also conveyed to the delegation.
