Practical Ambulance and Kit Training Conducted in Collaboration with the Healthcare Sector

Students from the First and Emergency Aid Program at Süleyman Demirel University Atayalvaç Vocational School of Health Services conducted a field visit to the Isparta Provincial Health Directorate 112 Emergency Health Services Headquarters, accompanied by their program instructors.

This visit was planned for second-year students within the scope of the “In-Company Vocational Training II” course and became one of the most successful examples of conducting practical training in collaboration with expert external stakeholders in the field.

Quality in education and training is achieved not only with theoretical knowledge but also through hands-on, industry-integrated learning processes. In this context, the students received comprehensive training on the technical equipment of different types of ambulances used in emergency health services, as well as preparation and intervention processes before cases. This program directly aligns with principles critical to the higher education quality assurance system, such as stakeholder participation, alignment of program outcomes with industry standards, and direct contributions to graduate competencies.

During the training, students were first shown how to prepare an ambulance kit in a complete and strategic manner that meets standards before heading out to a case. This kit preparation was evaluated within the framework of pre-hospital emergency intervention algorithms and medical equipment management. Then, students were provided with detailed technical information on subjects such as the interior design of three different types of ambulances (standard ground ambulance, bariatric ambulance, and 4x4 off-road ambulance - Pajero), equipment placement, patient transport systems, and selecting the appropriate ambulance according to the case area. Students also had the opportunity to experience firsthand the securing and removal of main and backup stretchers inside the ambulance, as well as patient positioning.

This activity serves as a model for strengthening practices directly linked to graduate competencies in higher education, equipping students with professional skills, and establishing sustainable collaborations with expert institutions in the field. The photos taken during the training clearly reflect the seriousness of the training, the high motivation of the students, and the opportunity for firsthand experience in the field.
